I spent 31 years working for the NBC station in Los Angeles. They sent me many places to cover news stories, it was often interesting and exciting. Covered some big stories and won some awards. Then one day my boss invited me out for a drink. It pained him to tell me that I was too old, ugly, and stupid to continue working in TV News.
I was fired.
Turns out they fired him also, for similar reasons.
One of my colleagues put together a collection of some of the stories I covered starting in 1979, when I was the State Capital Bureau Chief.
